Probably the most sustainable pepper in the world

Tropoc Belém Pepper

We call it “the jewel of Brazil”. The Belém pepper is a top pepper that comes from Belém – the main state of the state of Para in Brazil. What makes this pepper so special? The excellent terroir (soil and climate) grows a particularly high-quality pepper. In addition, the Tropoc-Quality makes it probably the most sustainable pepper in the world. This special pepper is available exclusively from the Fuchs Group, of which Tropoc is a subsidiary.

What makes Tropoc pepper so special?

We are convinced that sustainability must include not only environment protection but also the social concerns of local people. For this reason, we are involved in many ways on site.

  • No deforestation of the rainforest for cultivation (monitored by the satellite-based system “Geo Tropoc”)
  • 100% sun drying – thus no firewood consumption for drying
  • Use of the plant Gliricidia reduces the consumption of wooden poles as climbing support
  • Permanent reduction of pesticide use through training of farmers in “Good Agricultural Practices”
  • Annual sustainability report (GRI standard)
  • No genetically modified pepper
  • No fumigation of peppercorns
  • No anthraquinone contamination due to sun drying
  • Direct cooperation with the farmers through regular visits
  • Annual update of the manual “Good Agricultural Practice”
  • 365 days a year with our own staff on site
  • Financial and logistical support for farmers
  • Sponsoring local public health campaigns
  • Sponsorship of sports equipment, school uniforms, school supplies and musical instruments
  • Increasing occupational safety by breeding stingless bees
  • Permanent research and development work for pepper cultivation in cooperation with the Embrapa research institute
  • Traceability of the entire supply chain
